This is For You, Eden.

Musings of A Beautiful Mess
I've said before that I'm from The City, but we live in a farming town. The City we use to live in, wasn't a metropolitan city, it was more like a "everyone has money" type of city. Our high school was full of BMW's and Mercedes and we had a lot of friend who's parents were lawyers and doctors. The town we live in now is full of beat up 4x4's and people go up in the hills to go "muddin". I, personally, have never gone and I doubt I ever will. I like the roads I travel on to be paved.

Awhile ago, I mentioned that it isn't out of the ordinary to see a tractor rumbling town the street. Especially during "harvesting season". I honestly have no idea when this is or what is harvested, but it's usually around spring time and the fall. Every time I see a tractor going down the street, I jump up and down and get all excited. I usually point and say something like "hey look, a tractor! it driving down the STREET!!" My friends usually roll their eyes because they've grown up with this. When I had mentioned this, Eden told me to take a picture the next time I see one. So I did! I actually took two, but those tractors are fast! Who knew? I ran to the end of my friend's driveway and snapped a pic, but he was almost behind a car and all I got was the end of him. So, what does this smart gal do? She runs into the middle of street telling the guy to slow down so I can get a pic for Eden and all my bloggy friends. I don't think he heard me because he just kept going. I did snap the picture but you can barley see it, but it IS there.

My husband and our friends were totally laughing at me wondering wtf I was doing. When I explained it to them, they just stood there, looking at me like I had 3 heads. *sigh* boys, they just don't understand!

There ya go! Proof that I do, in fact, live in a "farm town" where a tractor rolling down the street is only news to me.

In the town I live we are always knee deep in cyclists. They train in groups year round then the police shut down almost all the roads for the "races". They piss me off and I wonder if any jury would convict me if I just ran the bastards over. They cycle shoulder to shoulder taking up the whole damn road!

P.S You're an awesome secret keeper!

P.S again someone from my town is coming from your blog to mine. I'm dying to know who else lives in Tavares! Show thyself!

Too funny! Although as of late it's been emergency vehicles and military personnel carriers, it's not that out of place to have to pass a tractor or combine or other piece of farm machinery here either. I guess I just assumed everyone was so lucky! :) I LOVE that you took a picture.

P.S. I'm a big fan of your new bedding! Two thumbs up.

Sober up and entertain me! I demand it!

Hee hee :) But have you ever been stuck behind a tractor on a country road where you can't pass him? That's way more frustrating than entertaining. Or, have you ever had to wait for cows to cross the road? Fortunately, I don't have to wait for those things anymore, although some days it would be preferable to the issues coming from a bigger town!

lol Too funny. On the way home from a beach we passed a tractor. Cars were going around it, but they were in MY LANE looking at ME head on. Scary!

I grew up in a farm town and I remember taking one of my friends back home with me for a visit. She was shocked at how many pickup trucks there were. Definitely more trucks than cars. I never really thought about it but now I can't help but notice.

Well, that's something that's never crossed my mind - chasing tractors. I'm sure my little guy would enjoy it! Thanks for the tip.

i've got it worse - i lived on a DIRT road in the town i lived in. no store for 30 minutes, a bunch of amish neighbors, farms, gah! i live in a development right outside the city now and love it. never going back!

Sure, come for dinner! We'll have more than enough food!

I'm really curious about where you live. My sis used to live in Eugene and I've been to a few other places in Oregon (Corvallis, Portland, Salem, Sunriver, and Bend, plus skiing at Bachelor and hiking near Sisters). And my friend lives in Portland but might be moving to Hood River sometime soon. Oregon seems like a really beautiful state.

I grew up in a similar city. "Downtown" was 1 mile away, and miles of corn fields and bean crops were a 1/2 mile in the other direction. LOVE to go back and visit each summer.

Your description of trying to get the perfect tractor pic was quite funny. :)

Oh my God.

THANK YOU!!! So cool! I read it and was just laughing and laughing (while the baby is crying and crying HELP). Max says, what is so funny, mum? So I explained it to him, and he came over and had a look, he thought it "awesome."

Omg I LOVE how you ran out and asked the guy to slow down. Love. Tell your hubby it was totally worth it, we don't see that down here!!
XOXOXOXOXOX

Tractors are fairly normal around here, too, only ours are on the slower side. I don't think I've ever had to chase one down. :-) The mental picture of that is hilarious!

Be careful of those tractors! What if they start a gang?

Awesome! Now I want to get on my FIL's tractor and have them take my picture just for you ;) It doesn't ever drive up and down the road - I suppose it could but the roads here are so narrow that would be kind of funny. Instead it just goes from the "barn" to the rice field and back. Poor thing doesn't get out much ;)
